CREATIV was delighted to present Adolfo Sanchez’s Autumn/Winter 2015 collection to the fashion elite at the Continental Club in downtown Los Angeles. Entitled Creatures of the Night, the collection was presented in an atmosphere evoking the provocative and sensual aesthetic that the designer loves to play on. Rather than using the traditional runway format, the production took advantage of the unique layout of the underground Continental and had the models weave around the venue and enter each separate, velvet-adorned booth so that the guests had a private viewing of each look. The clandestine viewing of each model allowed the audience to truly examine the exquisite detail and concept of each look.
Creatures of the Night pushed the Adolfo Sanchez aesthetic to new heights. The collection featured a wide array of ready-to-wear silhouettes, ranging from silk chiffon blouses with sheer pencil skirts, to fox-fur shawls paired with hand-painted sequined leggings, to black lace knit cropped jumpsuits. Cocktail looks and evening gowns took to the runway, featuring sleek, body-conscious lace gowns and rich burgundy, ombré, velvet long-sleeve gowns -- perfection for a sexy, winter evening. The color palette varied from black to deep wine hues to bright scarlet, highlighting the romance and sensuality of the collection.
The collection evoked a juxtaposition of the designer’s taste for chic, luxurious garments mixed with an untamed, predatory feeling. Miniature top hats with elongated, piercing pheasant feathers, and vintage-looking velvet caps adorned with veils over the eyes and finished with a painted skull on the top of the head. The showstopper was the mauve-grey voluminous gown with hundreds of pleats and layers of tulle and a sheer lace bodice -- topped with a large, exotically winged hat that evoked the wild and powerful elegance of the Adolfo Sanchez woman. While the bold, sexy looks astounded the audience, nothing could have prepared them for the softened elegance of the finale look – a crystal-adorned, hand-beaded bridal gown with a five foot train and touched with pale feathers on the epaulets. Undoubtedly a hint at the bridal collection to come, this spectacular wedding look was a welcomed surprise for all.
